Charles Maraura

Charles worked as a legal clerk for a prominent firm in Zimbabwe for 15 years. It was from this experience that he developed a love for the practice of the law. He, through sheer determination and hard work, pulled himself up from his bootstraps and against all odds, qualified as a lawyer, albeit, with years of experience by association.

During his time as a legal clerk he made it a point to gain as much experience and expertise in procedural law and other areas as his limited access would allow him, this included drawing bills of costs and attending taxation. This experience did only motivate his legal intrigue but it also prepared him to handle the demands of a dynamic legal environment. Now even as a practicing lawyer, Charles retained the same thirst and hunger to self develop into one of the world’s best lawyers.

He holds an LLB degree from the University of South Africa where he developed a strong foundation in various aspects of law. His practice primarily focuses on litigation, where he demonstrates a particular interest in Tax law, criminal law and Labour law.

In the realm of Labour Law, he specialises in employment contracts, codes of conduct, collective bargaining, internal hearings, dismissals, retrenchments and outsourcing. This breadth of knowledge enables him to provide comprehensive employment advice and effectively handle litigation matters related to these areas. In addition to his focus on commercial and labour law, Charles has significant experience in debt collection for various small and large companies. This aspect of his practice highlights his ability to manage financial disputes and recover outstanding debts, further underscoring his versatility as a legal practitioner. Away from the boardroom and the court room, Charles is a family man and an avid angler specialising in bass fishing.
