Kudzai Bushu

Kudzai Bushu is a highly skilled legal practitioner with extensive experience in commercial law, mining law, tort law, family law, and succession law litigation. He has represented clients in both lower and upper courts, earning a reputation for his strategic legal counsel, meticulous drafting and effective courtroom advocacy. A graduate of the University of Zimbabwe (UZ) with a Bachelor of Laws Honours Degree (LLBS), Kudzai is known for his sharp analytical abilities, negotiation skills, and client-centric approach, consistently delivering practical solutions while upholding the highest professional and ethical standards. Fluent in Shona, English, French, and Spanish, he connects easily with diverse clients and stakeholders, offering legal services with a global perspective.

Kudzai is also an accomplished legal writer. His research paper, “Towards a Holistic, Sustainable, and Transparent Regulatory Framework for Cryptocurrencies in Zimbabwe”, was published in the Potchefstroom Electronic Law Journal (PER/PELJ), an esteemed international legal journal. He has co-authored a forthcoming chapter in “Aspects of Contemporary Banking Law in Zimbabwe” with Dr. Friedrich Hamadziripi, Chairperson of the Faculty of Law at the University of Zimbabwe (UZ). His earlier work includes “Why the Zimbabwean Criminal Judicial System Needs a Public Defender’s Office”, published in the University of Zimbabwe Student Law Journal.

Beyond his legal practice, Kudzai is committed to social justice and community service. He volunteers at the Access to Justice Center, where he provides legal aid, advocacy, and reform work to promote access to justice for the indigent. He is a member of Lexis Lions, an international humanitarian organization with over 1.4 million members in 205 countries, and a Lex:lead Ambassador, advocating for economic development in the world’s least developed countries.

When he is not knee-deep in case law or in the courtroom Kudzai enjoys a good book. His reading list spans from legal classics to obscure science fiction novels (and he swears are life-changing). Kudzai is also an avid chess player who treats every game like it’s the World Chess Championship. Friends describe his playing style as “aggressive but overthinking every move,” which may or may not explain why he often finds himself in highly questionable endgames. But win or lose, he insists on giving a full post-match analysis, complete with dramatic replays and lessons learned. After all, whether in law or on the chessboard, strategy and foresight are everything, plus a little flair never hurts.
